While doing my daily ritual of looking at YouTube videos, a persistent little sponsored video kept cropping up. This sponsored video was about a freelance digital marketer company called AWOL Academy.
Pop-Ups Are Annoying But They Work
After having this sponsored video pop-up at least a dozen times on my computer screen, I finally caved and settled down to watch the video. Of course, me being the type of person that always questions things, I questioned the marketing video. This time my question was.
Is AWOL Academy A Scam?
Before I answer that question and give you my personal review and rating of AWOL Academy, let me show you that persistent little video first:
Now, maybe its just me but, whenever I see any promotional video with someone shows off their too perfect big house or their lavish lifestyle, I get a bit suspicious. I’ve seen so many late night infomercials that my view can be a bit jaded. So, I did what I usually do…..
Here is the results of my research. AWOL Academy is an online marketing company based in Las Vegas, Nevada. It was founded in 2015 by Kameron George and Keala Kanae. AWOL is an acronym for Another Way of Life. This is a screen shot of their landing page:
The early beginnings of this business started as an affiliate of Empower Network called Project AWOL. Project AWOL had a falling out with Empower Network in July 2013. At some point in time between 2013 and 2015 George and Kanae teamed up and started their own business which is now called AWOL Academy.
As a side note: George and Kanae have another company called Elite Push selling the same AWOL products.
The academy teaches affiliate marketers how to be successful online. There are different academy programs you can purchase. They are:

My Rating Of AWOL Academy
- NAME: AWOL Academy
- WEBSITE: www.awolacademy.com
- PRICE: $99 to $9997
- OWNERS: Kameron George and Keala Kanae
- OVERALL RANK: 80 out of 100
- VERDICT: Legitimate
AWOL Academy teaches its members how to be successful online marketers but the amount of money that their members have to pay for the training is way out of reach for most people.
That is why I gave it a ranking of 80 out of 100. It may be a helpful program for someone who has substantial disposable income but not for someone new to affiliate marketing.
For someone that does not have a lot of money to spend on learning the affiliate marketing business, I would recommend Wealthy Affiliate.
The courses at Wealthy Affiliate are thorough. The community members are always willing to help each other and the owners Kyle and Carson do everything they can to help their members succeed.
A person can start as a free member at Wealthy Affiliate and if they wanted to upgrade to a premium member later on they can. The best thing is, that Wealthy Affiliate will not cost you thousands of dollars.
Have you personally had the experience of paying big bucks to learn about affiliate marketing?
Was the investment worth it?
