What Is Fiverr?

Fiverr is a global online marketplace connecting freelance contractors and website owners (customers). When a website owner needs certain tasks and services done for their website, they contact a freelancer through Fiverr. After consultation with the customer, the freelance contractor creates and delivers the completed digital product. The freelancer then gets paid for their services.

Tasks And Services

Some tasks and services offered through Fiverr include:

  • Graphics and Design
  • Digital Marketing
  • Writing and Translation
  • Video and Animation
  • Music and Audio
  • Programming and Tech

Fiverr’s head office is in Tel Aviv, Israel. It also has offices in San Fransisco, New York, Los Angeles, Miami and Chicago. Fiverr was founded in February 2010. It gets its name from how much it initially cost to purchase many of its contracting services which was usually $5. Services are called Gigs in Fiverr lingo.

There are still Gigs costing $5 US in the Fiverr marketplace But they are becoming much more rare today.

  • Name: Fiverr

  • Verdict: Legitimate

My Experience

I have been a customer of Fiverr on and off for the past two years, I have used their graphic and design services to develop various logo’s for my websites and I have been nothing but impressed with the quality and attention to detail that the freelance contractors that I hired produced. The freelancers that I hired were generally priced in the mid range category (approximately $40 a Gig).

Why use Fiverr?

All affiliate marketers should strive to create their own “brand” in order to set themselves apart from other websites in the same niche. A website should be as unique as its owner. This is why it is important that the majority of your websites have a logo.

Logos can be placed in strategic places on various web pages. They can be added in emails and newsletters for that personal touch. Websites can also have a “favicon” that appears beside the web address. All of this can be produced at a very reasonable cost through Fiverr.

Fiverr has many freelance contractors to choose from. Some contractors offer their services at a very low cost for basic work. Other contractors offer more elaborate styles of graphics for a higher cost. My recommendation for a new affiliate marketer just starting off would be to hire a graphic designer to produce one simple square shaped logo. That one logo can be used for email communication and can also be used as a favicon. That logo will help in the websites brand building.

Fiverr also has writing freelancer contractors who will write unique blog posts that can be posted on a persons’ website. Personally I would not recommend that a new affiliate marketer buy blog posts and the reason is because I believe that a website will become a great website when the sites owner writes his or her own posts.

Saying that, I know that there will be times when a website owner won’t have the time to write his or her own content.

This is where other side of Fiverr comes in.

If you have become comfortable in writing content for your website and are looking to make a bit more income through writing, you may want to consider becoming a freelance writer. Fiverr is always looking for new freelancers in writing as well as freelancers in all areas of digital services.

Pros And Cons Of Fiverr

  • Fiverr offers complete digital services for website owners
  • Its website is very easy to navigate
  • They have a great community in its forum
  • Fiverr gives website owners the option to delegate tasks that they don’t have time to do personally
  • There is money that can be made as a freelancer through Fivver

  • On some lower priced Gigs, the quality of work is not good (You get what you pay for)
  • Customer support sometimes takes a while to respond
  • It may be hard to get Gigs as a freelancer if you are just starting off

In Summary

Overall, I find that Fiver is an excellent place to find freelance contractors to do some custom work that a web developer may not have the time or expertise to do. It is also a good place to start if a person would like to try their hand at becoming a freelancer.

Fiverr is free to join.

A Heads Up

One of the things that a customer should be on the lookout for is those freelancers that promise quality service but do not deliver on that promise. Be aware that this unfortunate situation generally happens on the Gigs that start in around the $5 range.

Check Out Fiverr Yourself

There are many other Fiverr services that I haven’t talked about in this post. To learn more about the other services like video and animation services, I would recommend that you explore these services on Fiver’s website and see if any of them suite your needs. I know firsthand how Fiverr freelancers help to make a person’s website look great.

  1. Hello Ramona,

Great post on Fiverr! I’ve considered using them for logos before, but never got around to do it. I’m going to look into it today(:

One thing I do oppose of is content writing! I only write my own content and will consider guest blogging in the future. Simply because I want my website to be as personal as possible ^_^ I wouldn’t trust someone else writing my contents for me haha (kind of contradicting my consideration for guest posting).

I’m definitely going to look into purchasing a logo though because mine is hideous haha!

    Kind Regards,

    1. Hi Eric:

What I have seen so far, I know you are definitely going places. Keep improving your website every day.

Wishing you success in all that you do.

  2. I have heard of Fiverr, but after reading your article I do believe that I will go check it out!

As far as logo developments, is there any assurance on fiver that the logo provided to you will NOT be copied for another gig?

Also… should you hire a freelancer to write an article for you, are you able to tell them to focus the content around particular keywords for SEO purposes?

    1. Hi Misty:

When you go in to Fiverr and are choosing a freelancer to work with, you will see snippets of  work that the freelancer has done for other customers. Review whether there is copied content in there. Also, when you communicate with the freelancer, make it very clear that you want your logo to be unique. A good freelancer will work with the customer closely to get the gig done right. After all, a happy customer is a returning customer.

It is definitely advisable to communicate with the freelancer what keywords you want in an article that is written for you. After all, you do want your post to rank.

      Thanks for your comment!
